Forgotten Super Eagles attacker, Yakubu Aiyegbeni has set his eye on one of the play-off spot with his Championship side Leicester City.
The 28 year old burly striker who joined Sven-Goran Eriksson's Championship side with a view to a permanent move in the summer told Ijaw boy that he hopes to score more goals help his side gain the needed promotion to the Premier League.
" I wanted to play regularly and freely that was I joined Leicester City. They have offered me what I didn't get at Everton and I hope to repay that faith the boss had in me when he signed me up on loan. My challenge now is to help the team qualify for the play-off spot.
Currently we are about six point adrift from the team in third position and four point behind Leeds, so we still stand a chance of achieving that goal" he said
The Yak who is currently the only African to have hit the 100 goal mark in the EPL further rechoed his unflinching support for current Eagles boss, Samson Siasia after his lads managed a nervy win over Sierria Leone in an international friendly last week.
"We must not stop to support the new coach as that's the only way to succeed with the team. He needs more support as he already has mine" the former Maccabbi Haifa striker said.
He also saluted Foxes manager Sven Goran Eriksson for creating a pressure-free environment at the Walkers Stadium.Yakubu, who has scored three goals in five games for Leicester since arriving last month on loan for the rest of the season, believes Eriksson's laid back approach is one of the main reasons behind the Foxes' play-off challenge.
"The football has been great and you have to give credit to the manager for that. There's no pressure on any of us. He tells us to be patient and to enjoy the game, to pass the ball quickly but not be in a rush.If you look at the way we play the determination is there, we play without pressure and we'll keep taking one game at a time so hopefully we'll be fine." he added
