The kick-off for the invitational Obama Cup in the United States of America has been shifted to the last week of February because several of the teams for the competition are yet to be granted their entry visas, officials have informed Ijaw boy.
“The kick-off of the US tournament has been postponed. The competition would kick of on February 21 now as a result of visa hitches experienced by almost all the participating countries coming to the US for the competition,” disclosed Super Eagles assistant coach, Simon Kalika.

“We have to wait for decisions next week because next week Monday and Tuesday, the US Embassy would be on holiday. Then on Wednesday the Embassy has asked us to come and pick up the visas. We are even lucky that we (Nigeria) have approval, other countries don’t have approval yet.

But we are lucky in that the US Embassy has told us to come and pick our visas next week Wednesday.”

Earlier, Nigeria’s participation in the Obama Cup was hanging by a thread. The country’s ‘B’ team were scheduled to depart for the US this weekend for the tournament, but officials would then describe the trip as “dicey” when most of the passports of the squad were not released to them by close of work Friday.
