Contrary to reports in the media that a memorial game will be held in honour of late Super Eagles defender, Uche Okafor tomorrow in Owerri,Nigerian Football Technical committee chairman, Barrister Chris Green has clearly started the plan is no longer feasible.
The former Commissioner for Sports in Rivers state revealed in a chat that the Federation would be fully represented at the memorial service at his home town in Ubomiri, in Mbatoli LGA, Imo State.
"He was part of us a good good ambassador of the country so we all would be there to pay our last respect to the Nigerian international. The friendly game between the Home Eagles and the U-23 team is no longer hold as it isn't feasible anymore. The Federation fully represented there" Green stated
It would be recalled that the remains of the former Eagles defence trojan arrived the country Tuesday night to begin his journey to eternity. His former teammates Thompson Oliha, Alloy Agu, Ben Iroha Augustine Eguavoen and Super Eagles coach have all agreed to pay their last respect to the former Kansas City defender.
The former Nigerian international was found dead at his Dallas Texas home in the United States last month.
Okafor's professional career began at defunt ACB of Lagos before he moved to KRC Mechelen. The late Nigerian defender also played for Hannover 96 before hanging his boot with Sporting Kansas, formerly known as Kansas City Wizards.
He played only one game for the Super Eagles at the 1994 FIFA World Cup in the USA and was a football pundit on African football for ESPN until his death.
