Former Super Eagles dashing winger, Finidi George launched a passionate plea to the Nigerian Football Federation to stage the national team’s next African Nations Cup qualifiers in Lagos.

Finidi, who is now Real Betis international director made this submission to Ijaw boy from his base in Spain that irrespective of the booing fans the team should not nurse any fear defeating the Ethiopia in Lagos.

“That’s how is has always been It’s a very difficult place to play. It’s often not easy there because the fans want good football for the entire duration of the match and the moment it not going well some of the fans turn against the team.

“The coach also has played under such conditions and he knows what such chant calls for so should be in the best position to help the team out whenever they are faced with that.

“We should be able to defeat Ethiopians without any support from the fans. They should not scare us at all provided the players fielded are ready to do battle for the nation on that day. It’s his (Siasia’s) first competitive game for the Eagles and I don’t expect anything less than a victory on that day” Finidi sounded

The former Ajax of Amsterdam star who was also a member of the all-conquering 1994 Super Eagles squad also said that he missed the funeral of his late colleague due to late calls he received for the occasion and would be willing to help Super Eagles youth prodigy Ahmed Musa sharpen his skill provided time permits.

“I was informed of his final burial arrangements very late and there was no time for me to arrange for that. I would have loved to pay my last respect to him. I will be willing to help Musa in any capacity but as long as time would permit us to do but I’m yet to receive any notification as regards that issue”

Finidi joined Real Betis in 1996 from Ajax, in a deal worth $7.6 million, scoring 38 goals in 130 appearances before moving on to Real Mallorca, and Ipswich Town, in the English Premier League, before ending his career at Real Mallorca.
